Share the Joy and Love

I know that this is a busy time of year. Life has been hectic both at work and at home for my family. This month’s blog is much later than usual because of all the craziness.

Many people love the holiday season. I’ve always been one of those people. I love the lights and the Christmas music. I also enjoy trying to find the right gift for those I love.

But, I must admit that I don’t enjoy the holidays as much as I did in the past. Our children are grown and have lives of their own. We do have grandkids to enjoy but it isn’t the same. I also miss the family members who are no longer with us.

I know how hard it is for those you are experiencing their first Christmas after losing a loved one. I know that every year is hard from that day forward.

I’d like to make a suggestion. Spread the joy and love of the season by letting people know they are not alone.

How? Be kind to everyone you meet. Wear your best smile and greet people with a sincere holiday greeting. Help someone carry their loads both literally and figuratively.

Invite someone that you know to be going through a difficult time out for coffee, to lunch, or dinner. Better yet, invite them into your home for the holiday. Give them a small gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive.

This is a time when it's the thought that truly counts. Let those who are hurting know that they matter. Offer them a shoulder to cry on or a listening, understanding ear. Give them a hug.

Let’s make the rest this year and 2020 a time of compassion and kindness to all everyone we meet.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season.
