Random Thoughts of an Indie Mystery Author
Hello and welcome to my blog!
This monthly blog will be primarily about my journey as an independent mystery author. I'm by no stretch of the imagination an expert. I'm still learning this business. I jumped in, sink or swim, with no connections and no idea what I was about to get into. This blog is intended to share information with other authors and the curious.
There are times that I feel compelled to write about other topics. You’ll find those random thoughts as well. I’ll sort the blog topics into categories on the right side of the page so that those you find interesting will be easier to locate. Click on the title or date of the blog entry that you'd like to read.
I've chosen not to use a blog page in which readers must sign up to have access. I want this blog to be available to anyone who wishes to read it. Readers are welcome to use the contact page to ask a question, make comments, or make suggestions.
I’d like to start by telling you a little about myself. Some of the random topics that you find will probably have something to do with my perspective of life at that particular time.
I am first and foremost a Christian. You won’t find any vulgar or explicit language in my posts or my books.
I’m a wife, adoptive mom, biological mom, step-mom, mother-in-law, and a grandmother. One of my children has a disability. I’m also a daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and niece.
I’m currently a part time author and a full time high school science teacher at an alternative school. I plan to be a retired teacher and a full time author by the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
I’ve lived my entire life in Texas. I was born in Fort Worth and raised on the family farm near Vernon. I’ve lived in the Amarillo area for almost four decades.
I love to read. Mysteries are my favorite genre but I do enjoy reading others. Some of my preferences are science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and romance. Some of my favorite books could be included in multiple genres.
Any one of these facets of my life could be the inspiration for a blog topic. That’s why I felt the word “random” needed to be included in the title.
You won’t find any political blog posts here. We're all bombarded by politics on a daily basis through all forms of media. I have no desire to discuss the latest political scandal.
You can expect a new post of each month. I welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions. You can get in touch with me by using the contact page or clicking the envelope in the footer of this page.
